Overview

South Tyneside residents can receive free energy-related advice as part of South Tyneside Council Housing Services Energy Roadshows which are happening across the borough throughout March 2025.

What help is on offer

Members of our Housing Services Asset Management Team will be on hand to welcome you and introduce you to Groundwork's Green Doctor.

Representatives from a number of different local advice organisations will also be on hand to provide guidance on energy efficiency, as well as offer support with finances and money management.

Attendees will be able to find out about:

  • how to reduce your fuel bills
  • the dangers of carbon monoxide
  • what local energy support is available
  • Energy Performance Certificates and why thy are needed

You will also be able to receive a free benefits check.

The events will also be attended by:

  • South Tyneside Council's Welfare Support Team, who are expert advisors providing advice on debt, benefits, and budgeting
  • The Housing Services Involvement Team, who can explain the different ways that you can help shape the future of Housing Services 

Our Energy Roadshow events held in 2024 were attended by over 400 people and were well received by attendees.

  • Wednesday 5 March, 10am to 2pm at Primrose Community Centre, Lambton Terrace, Jarrow, NE32 5QY
  • Monday 10 March, 9am to 1pm at Hebburn Central, Glen Street, Hebburn, NE31 1AB
  • Thursday 13 March, 12midday to 4pm at Boldon Community Association, New Road, Boldon Colliery, NE35 9DS
  • Wednesday 19 March, 9am to 1pm at Marsden Road Community Centre, Marsden Road, South Shields, NE34 6RE
  • Tuesday 25 March, 1pm to 4pm at Hebburn Central, Glen Street, Hebburn, NE31 1AB
  • Thursday 27 March, 4pm to 7pm at Haven Point, Pier Parade, South Shields, NE33 2JS

The events are primarily aimed at Housing Services customers although anyone who needs support around energy is welcome to attend for advice.
