Energy Roadshows on the Way
South Tyneside residents can get advice on how to cut their fuel bills this winter as a number of energy roadshows get underway.
Representatives from South Tyneside Council Housing Services as well as Groundworks' 'Green Doctor' will be on hand to give energy efficiency advice as well as offer support with finances and money management.
People can get energy-related advice, learn how to read their bills and find out more about the dangers of carbon monoxide as well as receive a free benefits check as part of the events. The events are aimed primarily at South Tyneside Council tenants although anyone needing support with energy is welcome to come along.
The first roadshow will be held at Hebburn Hub next Wednesday (13 September) between 9am and 4pm.
It will then move to Jarrow Town Hall on Wednesday 20 September, where it will run between 9am and 4pm and then be at the Whitburn Barnes Institute on Wednesday 27 September between 10.30am and 4pm.
The roadshow will then be at The Word on Wednesday, 4 October (9am to 4pm) and then at Marsden Road Community Centre on Wednesday, 11 October (9am to 4pm).
The roadshows are an attempt by the Council to drive down fuel poverty in the Borough and help residents become financially secure.
Councillor Paul Dean, Lead Member for the Voluntary Sector, Partnerships and Equalities, said: "We are determined to do all we can to help people drive down their energy costs and be as prepared as possible for the winter ahead. With so much support and advice on offer from a wide range of teams and partners, I would encourage people to drop in to one of these roadshows and get all the help and support available."
