What the Scrutiny Panel do
The Scrutiny Panel is responsible for taking an in-depth look at aspects of Housing Services delivery and for monitoring performance across the service.
The Panel carries out detailed investigations using a wide range of information.
Detailed reports are produced including recommendations for improvements and the Panel presents these to Housing Service Managers and to Council Committees.
Recommendations are agreed for implementation and these are monitored regularly.
Typical activities include:
- carrying out surveys / questionnaires
- meeting with staff and customers to hear their experience of services
- carrying out mystery shopping of services
- job shadowing members of staff
- reviewing performance information
The Scrutiny Panel have a track record of making positive changes to the way services are delivered for customers.
How much time is required
Scrutiny Panel members need to be committed.
To carry out projects, they meet on average 6 times a month.
This involves approximately 15 hours volunteer time per month.
